The Incredible Walk
I've finally given The Phanatik's "The Incredible Walk" a full listen, and I like it. I like it alot. I heard a few tracks prior to it's release, but I wasn't really feeling all of them. However, after listening to the full CD, I've found that I'll definitely be rockin this joint for a while.
I'm so biased. It's rather difficult for me to write anything bad about The Cross Movement, but it's been a while since I've actually enjoyed any release from The Cross Movement. Holy Culture was pretty hot, but I'm so loyal to "Human Emergency". The solo projects have not been that great. The Ambassador's "Christology" was amazing. Every project by a CM artist therafter has been well...not so great. Truth's album totally disappointed me. Flame's album just...well...Flame is a nice guy. I don't want to rip his album, but it just didn't appeal to me.
I assumed that The Phanatik's album would disappoint me as well. I was pleasantly surprised. It's the best solo effort by a CM artist by far. Yes...I'm claiming that "The Incredible Walk" is better than "Christology". YES ADAM I SAID THAT.
It's a really gutsy effort. He tried something new & it paid off. Phanatik holds it down this time. With a multitude of hot beats and TRUE lyrical substance, The Incredible Walk is one of this year's top Christian Hip Hop albums.
My favorite tracks on the album are "Psych Check", "Odd Job", "Dirgy Dancing" & "Come Again". I wasn't really feeling "Me". The lyrics are hot, but the track sounds so much like something that Cam'ron & The Diplomats would do. I don't care for that too much. I didn't care too much for "The AmazingGrace" either. It has a Big Daddy Kane/Heavy D mood to it. The track would've been fire if it were produced 15 years ago.
The rest of the tracks are really decent. If you're in to Christian Hip Hop, I urge you to buy this album. If you've never heard Christian Hip Hop & want to give it a try, I'd recommend this album as well.
Take a listen if you please...
One more thing...
If you haven't heard Shai Linne's "The Solus Christus Project" then you're missing out on a true classic. PEEP THAT TOO!

Better than Christology? You don't mean that. You can't mean that. Better than Christology? Man. I have to listen to that album. Better than Christology? That's a trip!

Not really into gospel rap. I can listen to it, but most of it doesn't interest me. I listened to the album. Its ok. I wouldn't listen very often though. Did you hear about Kanye West being nominated for a Stellar Award? Best Christian Hip Hop Album or something like that. They later removed the nod, but I found it rather odd that an organization as respected as the Stellar Awards would make such a big oversight.
You used "respected" & "stellar award" in the same sentence. LOL! That's pure comedy to me. Nobody takes the Stellars seriously. The fact that they nominated Kanye West & later rescinded the nomination proves that. Guys like Kanye get nominated, but TRUE Christian rap artists such as Cross Movement, Grits & countless other get overlooked. Explain to me how Hezekiah Walker should ever be considered for "Best Gospel Hip Hop". It's all bogus. I have issues with Christian award shows...ESPECIALLY the stellar awards. UGH! See what you started. ~Timi

I LOVE CROSSMOVEMENT!
Philly has came up with some good Christian Hip Hop. I am with you on not feeling Truth's CD.

You're talkin some big stuff sayin that this album is better that Christology. I actually was playing that on the drive in to work this morning. I mean, I like Brady and all, and his collabo on Christology's "Hold Your Ground" was tight, but I didn't think it would be like that. Of course, I expected Tonic to go solo first anyway. Maybe I can be in one of his videos too!
Yea that seems to be the consensus UNTIL folks actually hear the album. You have to take into consideration that Christology is a couple of years old. It's absolutely relevant AND SOUND theologically, but musically speaking it could be considered to be a bit behind the times. I love Christology. "Products of the City Life" & "Girl Named World" are so hot that it's insane. I still rock that joint daily, but after giving Brady's joint a listen, I still stand by my claim that it's better than Christology. Just take an unbiased listen for a moment. You may not think that I'm talking "big stuff" after all. Oh yea...I'm afraid to buy Tonic's album. ~Timi

Are you seriously serious?
If you can honestly say this album is better than Christology, the world is coming to an end. I don't think any album is better than Christology; secular or otherwise.
I've gotta give this album a listen now just for the sole purpose of proving my point. You said yourself you didn't care for all the tracks.
You can play every track on Christology without skipping.
I don't like every track on Christology either. I suppose the world is coming to an end if you claim that Christology is the best album ever. lol. Listen to it 12 times...I could really care less buddy. In my opinion The Incredible Walk is better than Christology. That's my theory and I'm stickin to it. ~Timi
