The Freaks Come Out At Night

Or in my case early morning...

I'd falled asleep my grandmother's couch Friday evening. I've grown accustomed to lounging on her couch. It's very comfortable. The soft cushions and plush pillows make it very nice sleeping option. Anyway, I bundled up in my blanket. I placed my cell phone on my pillow. I had forgotten my charger in the car and I didn't feel like getting up to go get it. I was going to turn my phone off to conserve the battery, but I didn't. I fell asleep around 11:30 or so. I was sleeping quite well until my the sound of my ringing phone awakened me.

I picked up my phone to view who the caller could be. The number was private, so I ignored the call. I checked the time, and the clock read 3:13am. I had no clue as to who it could be. Patrick is the only person that would call me that early in the morning, but he would've never made the call Private. I dismissed the call and went back to sleep. Again I was awakened by the ringing of my phone. Again the call was private. I ignored it. About 10 seconds later, my phone rang again. This time, I decided to answer.

Me: Hello?
Private Caller: Hello

This person had a really creepy voice!

Me: Who is this?
Private Caller: You want to be my naughty girl?
Me: WHAT!
Private Caller: *breathing slow but heavy* Are you might naughty girl?

*Click* I hung up the phone.

That weirded me out. My mind began to think of all the people the caller could have been. I only came up with a list of 5. I went down the list.

Could it be Patrick? No. He wouldn't call me to freak me out like that. This guys voice was kind of feminine but I could tell that it was male. Pat's voice is much deeper.

Could it be Mr. GA? No. Mr. GA has a very distinct southern accent and his naughty would've sounded something like "Nowty". Plus, his voice is alot deeper as well.

Could it be Mr. Bus Driver Guy? No. He has never called me after 10pm. Though his voice is soft, it's still very masculine and I recognize his voice even when he's joking around.

Could it be Mr. Bus Driver Jerk? No. He wouldn't have the testicular fortitude to call me after he said what he said to me and got properly cussed out by me (cuss words & all).

Could it be Tony? Yes. Tony is childish is like that. He calls me all the time playing little stupid jokes. But even this isn't Tony's style. This guy sounded really creepy. He gave me chills.

Could it be my stalking neighbor? No. He doesn't have my number. He's trying to marry me, he wouldn't screw up his chances like that.

I even thought that my little brother could be playing a joke on me, but he isn't smart enough to make his calls private.

As I was laying there sifting through thoughts, my phone rang again. This time the call wasn't private. It was unknown. I didn't answer. My phone didn't ring again, so I went back to sleep believing that the person had just dialed the wrong number.

I must've been in a deep sleep because my phone started to ring again and it scared me. I jumped up. My heart was racing. I looked at my phone. It was the private caller again. I look at the time. It was 4:36am. I answered.

Me: Who is this? What is your problem?
Private Caller: *breathing heavy* Will you be my naughty girl?
Me: What the *#@%^%
Private Caller: Lady is a bad girl. Nasty language.

Instantly, I knew that I had never talked to this person ever before. He made the hair on my head stiffen. I got goose bumps. Words can't even describe how creepy his voice was. He sounded like the voice in one of those Lifetime stalker movies.

Me: Stop playing on my phone
Private Caller: I'm watching you.

*Click*

That freaked me the hell out. I ran to my grandmother's door to make sure that it was locked. I hurried into her bedroom to make sure she was ok. I looked out the window. My phone rang again. I looked and it was him. I removed the battery from my phone and sat panting in the darkness.

Oh My God! Somebody is watching me. As I sat on the floor looking out the window, I realized something. My grandmother lives on the 8th floor of a retirement community. Nobody is seeing anything in her window unless they are watching from one of the building downtown. And even then one wouldn't be able to see anything unless he had a pair of super mega scientific government issued binoculars.

When I realized that nobody was watching me, and the caller was a prank then I was a bit at ease. I was still a little shaken. I said a prayer. I prayed that God would keep me safe from home. I prayed that the guy wouldn't call me ever again. I eventually went back to sleep. I didn't turn my phone on again until like 2pm that afternoon.

I have no idea who that caller was and I'm glad that he hasn't called back.

i'm just glad i wasn't on that short-list. it's been a while since i've been prank-called. and it was something like that.

it's amazing how the mind thinks (or doesn't) in those situations. just hang up and ignore him, he'll go away, we should be thinking.

my phone doesn't work so well, btw.

have you tried calling that number back? the kid's mama would probably whup him. i'd hope so.
