F****** iPod!

OK. The eBay listing was a hook. I knew I had to have the item when I saw it. An iPod Battery Replacement Kit...just what I needed. At $.99, who could beat that?

For 99 friggin cent, I could get my iPod back to new again. The listing read that the instructions for replacing the iPod battery was simply. Just use the tools provided remove the cover 1,2,3...BINGO! Battery replaced. No tech needed. No drama.

Yea right!!! I followed the damn instructions, and this is the end damn result

$300...piece of shit...

Yea Yea...now I know. You get what you pay for...

Lady Grace

Ruby Dee won a Screen Actors Guild award for Best Supporting Actress. This makes me smile. Recognition by mainstream Hollywood is LONG overdue for Ms. Ruby Dee. She was wonderful in "American Gangster"...very well deserving of all award nominations received.

I'd love to see her take home the Oscar. That would cap off a graceful and illustrious career.

No Baby

Last week, I received the following text message from my brother...

Usually, I'd laugh something like that off. I couldn't do that this time. It offended me a bit. I know that my brother's intentions weren't to upset me, but I was a bit unnerved by the text.

Why? Well...I'm not married. I don't plan on having children until I have a husband.

I'm single. Though I wouldn't mind a child around to keep to me company, I'm not ready to have a child just yet. I don't want to raise a child alone.

I want to buck what seems to be a trend of single motherhood. I'm not willing to compromise everything I believe just to combat my loneliness. I mean babies are cute and all, but you still have to feed, change and waste your money on them. I'm too selfish for that. You can't send your child home, if he gets on your nerves. If I get lonely, I'll call a friend.

My mother asks me questions about children too. She says, "When are you going to make me a grandmother?" My mother is a faithful church lady. Geez...One would think that my mother would be more interested in getting me married than giving me a baby.

In due time I suppose. Until then, I'll keep holding out for a husband. I'm single. I'm 28. I'm still a virgin. I'm a walking time-bomb. God be with me.

Security?

I live in a fairly "white" neighborhood. My 'hood is a very popular place to live for young professionals like myself. I love the area. Park is a pain in the ass, but I can deal with it.

The entertainment scene is live...especially on weekends considering there's a row on bars and nights spots on Del. Ave. There is always an abundance of people out expecting a time. For the most part, everyone has a good time. Of course there's drama, but it's never a big concern.

And that's why I'm writing this post. The drama that happens is never a big concern. In like likelihood, you'll never about a fight on Del. Ave in The News Journal. You'll never see a Channel 6 news van stationed outside of Catherine Rooney's interviewing witnesses to the drama that sometimes takes place. This is the "good 'hood" party scene. Minimal police and few arrests.

I've seen a few fights break out. The fights are usually over few minutes after they begins. Just a bunch of a drunk white guys trying to show each other who's the Alpha Male in the bunch. The worst fight I saw involved a bottle being smashed over someone's head. Again the fight was over after the bottle smash. No bullets. No police.

No police? Of course not, this in Trolley Square...not North Philly.

Last night, as I circled the square to find a parking spot, I notice a fight that's begun in front of a restaurant. It looked pretty serious. What's interesting is that there was ONE police officer to maintain order. ONE damn police officer for a big fight. Had this involved a bunch of negros, the bomb squad, ATF, WPD, DE State Troopers and every other law enforcement agency would've been on scene. Somebody's black tail would've been clubbed. Somebody would've gone to jail and all entertainment would've been shut down.

One police officer.

Unbelievable. Then again maybe not as unbelievable as it seems. Very seldom does anyone leave here harmed. White people don't shoot each other after they fight...

Brotha Obama

barack-obama.png

The Iowa Caucus has passed with a resounding BOOM.

History has come upon us. Barack Obama upstaged everyone. Could it be that America will elect a black man as President? I'm excited for Mr. Obama, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I really really really really like the brotha, but intuition is telling me that his black tail will be left behind in November.

I could be wrong. As I said on Bro. Field's site, if Obama is elected President of THESE United States of America then I promise to never ever ever ever EVER talk ish about this country again. Cross my heart and hope to die...stick a needle in my eye...

Midnight Blues

It's late and I'm missing him...

My iPod battery is broke. No sad music to listen to...

I can hear my neighbor having sex. I will never ever ever live on the 2nd floor again. I need ear plugs, but then I wouldn't hear my alarm...

Bummer...

Resolutions Suck

No more new year resolutions.

Why? Because I never keep them. It's that simple. This year I've dedicated myself to commitment. When I commit to something, I tend to stick with it until it's done.

So...in 2008 and here on out, I commit myself to a better lifestyle. I commit myself change. I commit myself to LIFE. I commit myself to all that will help me to a better person.

I'm excited. I've started well already. I ate a salad for breakfast. Ok...I didn't wake up until 12pm...so we can call it lunch. lol.
